Tuition:
Monthly tuition is due on the 1st of each month. There is a grace period until the 3rd of each month for the tuition to be paid. If the tuition is paid on the 4th or later, a 10% late fee will be added. Failure to pay the tuition along with any due fees will result in an elimination from the studio.
There are four weekly lessons per month. Some months may have a fifth week, which will be reserved for makeup lessons. If no makeup lesson is needed, there will not be a lesson on the fifth week. Preferably, tuition is paid through Zelle (rhiskeyspianostudio@gmail.com) or Venmo (@rhiskeyspianostudiollc). If Venmo is used for payment, please make sure that the transaction is NOT marked as a service so that Venmo does not keep a percentage of the transaction. If Zelle and Venmo are not an option, checks paid out to Rhi’s Keys Piano Studio, LLC are accepted. Cash is not accepted. There are no refunds.
Scheduling and Makeup Lessons:
Prior to the first of each month, both parties must communicate on lesson dates for the following month. If either party is not available for a lesson during the month, then this must be communicated before the first of the month so that you may either receive a makeup lesson or a prorated month. If you let your instructor know after the first of the month that you will not be available for a lesson (i.e. vacations, birthday parties, school events, etc.), then you will not receive a makeup lesson nor a prorated month. There are also no makeups for forgotten lessons.
For both parties, makeup lessons will occur for personal and family emergencies, medical emergencies and illnesses, severe weather conditions and vehicle malfunctions. If a makeup lesson does not occur within the month, the following month will be prorated.
If the student exhibits behavioral issues during a lesson, the instructor reserves the right to stop the lesson. If this occurs, there will not be a makeup lesson, nor a refund. The instructor also reserves the right to terminate the lesson if no one answers the door within 5 minutes of arrival.
If you plan on dropping lessons, this must be communicated at least two weeks prior to the first of the following month or you will be required to pay the full month’s tuition.
Books and Materials:
Method books and other supplemental books will be bought on Amazon by the parent or guardian through the links that are sent out. Sheet music will also be sent to the parent as a link or a PDF file to print out. In addition to the books and sheet music, a ruled notebook (dedicated to piano lessons only) and a pencil are required for assignments.
Instruments:
Acoustic pianos are preferred, but are not required. If an electric keyboard is used, it must have 88 weighted keys with at least one pedal attachment.
Parent/Guardian Observations:
Parents or guardians may observe lessons. If the student is under six years old, it is required that a parent or guardian observe the lesson.
Practicing:
The recommended amount of practice is at least 3–4 days per week for however long the student is able to focus and practice efficiently. If the student is consistently not practicing and not showing progress, then the student is at risk of being dropped from the studio.
Recitals:
There are two recitals hosted by Rhi’s Keys Piano Studio, LLC per year; one occurs in the spring and the other occurs in the fall. Participation in a recital is not required, but is highly encouraged. A non-refundable recital fee of $40 per participating student is due one month before the date of the recital. Students are assigned their recital pieces 6–8 weeks before the date of the recital.
Compliance:
Upon registration for lessons, the parent or guardian of the student understands that failure to comply with the policies and procedures set forth by Rhi’s Keys Piano Studio, LLC will result in an elimination from the studio. The Executive Director reserves the right to make changes to the policies and procedures at any time.
